Description: Ebonite is a very early precursor to plastics. When Charles Goodyear (the tire guy) set out to find an alternative to using ebony wood for black piano keys, he invented vulcanized rubber. Ebonite is also known as "Vulcanite" and "hard rubber." Used by early pen makers, this is a classic material for high-end pens for over a century. Black and green longitudinal striping, Ebonite has a "warm" hand feel that is very different from plastics.
